Gloria Swanson swore several times on screen, but as the title cards do not reflect this and the film is silent it was released without censorship.

I just watched “Sunset Boulevard” and all I can say is wow. This is a Billy Wilder masterpiece indeed. The performances were amazing, every single one, especially Gloria Swanson who played Norma Desmond. She was so creepy, amazing. Most of the time I felt very uncomfortable and it had that scary/exciting atmosphere.
And those cameo appearances of Cecille B. De Mille, Hedda Hopper, H.B. Warner and Buster Keaton are great.
A movie that should never be remade. It is too great. You would just destroy the greatness.
The trivia is also very interesting. Could you have imagined Montgomery Clift as Joe Gillis instead of Bill Holden?

In nearly complete agreement. Classic, wonderful film.
